Meet Our Psychiatrist

Dr. Kelly Thomas, MD

Dr. Thomas was born and raised in southern West Virginia. Following eight years of active duty service as a Captain in the United States Army, she is returning to her roots to bring evidenced-based psychiatric care to the New River Valley. 


A graduate of Princeton Senior High School, she attended Clemson University in Clemson, SC, where she received a bachelor's of science degree in Biological Sciences. She completed her medical training at West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown, WV.

Dr. Thomas completed her internship and residency at Tripler Army Community Hospital in     Honolulu, HI, where she served as the Chief Resident of the Psychiatry Residency program. Dr. Thomas also received several awards, including the Esprit de Corps award for leadership and the Psychiatry Residency Resident Educator award for teaching. She has since spent the last four years as the Chief of Psychiatry and Inpatient Behavioral Health at Winn Army Community Hospital, Fort Stewart, GA, where she continued to care for active duty service members, veterans, and their families. 

Dr. Thomas enjoys spending her free time with family, especially her husband and sons. She is an avid college sports fan and enjoys reading, baking, and Jeopardy!.
